Code: SLPS06 | The rich, supple grapes for this wine were picked from vineyard sites located in the Shandon, El Pomar and Templeton Gap regions within the Central Coast. Soils are mixed with clay and limestone, resulting in a wine of deep, dark complexity and herbal overtones. Although Petite Sirah was not a widely planted grape in California when it was first introduced to the U.S. in the early 20th century under its original name Durif, it has fared quite well in popularity and performance within this decade. Deep, blue-black hues, spicy ripe flavors and aromas of blueberries arise from this velvety-styled wine that is a big lustrous red best paired with tender meats, such as marinated lamb or grilled sirloin steak.

Code: WHVPV05 | Petit Verdot is typically known as a blending wine for the famous cuvees of Bordeaux. There it is used to add color and fragrance to the sometimes austere Cabernet grapes. Though rarely bottled on its own, the wine needs special attention to perform well in order to accentuate the full fruit that it can provide. While these factors may deter some winemakers, Mike Panczak of White Hall Vineyards was on a mission to make a Petit Verdot that made people take a second look at the delicate grape. He created this blend of 78% of Petit Verdot, 17% Merlot and 5% Tannat, that was aged in French and American oak barrels to smooth out any harsh tannins. The result was an inky black wine with aromas of concentrated dark berries, strawberry jam and violets. The finely structured palate contains flavors of plum, black cherry and spice integrated into a finish of fine tannin and vanilla. After enjoying this wine you'll realize that fine winemaking in the US in not exclusive to California. White Hall Vineyards is a national and international award-winning winery, that continuously takes home high honors from Virginia's own "Governor's Cup" state awards.

While many producers in Napa have up and down years Smith Madrone seems to deliver high quality Cabernet year after year. 2003 is no exception. While this wine has a different profile than some of the previous vintages, the 2003 Cabernet deliveries strong notes of dried cherry, menthol and vanilla. Lively acidity makes this wine a bit tight in this youthful stage but will round out and transform this vintage into another powerhouse that can stand up to the numerous $100.00 bottles found in retail stores. I may have caught it at a closed stage following bottling. There are 15,000-20,000 cases of Reserve Cabernet made, and in 1995, a quintessentially elegant style has been produced. The wine is less weighty than the 1994, 1991, or 1990. It has great promise and raw materials, with superb fruit and richness, medium body, and subtle lead pencil notes to go along with black currant, mineral, and pain grille scents and flavors. Code: LJC91 | "The 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is 4-6 years away from enjoyable drinking. It is a dense, full-bodied, bruiser of a wine, with an opaque color, and a promising but restrained bouquet of minerals, smoke, and blackcurrants. Full-bodied, rich, and intense, as well as tannic and backward, it is a wine made for the long term rather than immediate drinkability. This is an immensely impressive Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink 1998 or after" RP - 93

This is Colgin#s California version of St.-Emilion. All the fruit comes from David Abreu#s Madrona Ranch except for the Petit Verdot, which comes from Thorevilos. Code: DPCS05 | Vintage 2005 was a year for the record books in California. The weather conditions were so perfect that there were too many grapes for the wineries. So, Winemaker Matt Praetzel was able to hand pick the finest Cabernet grapes from select vineyards along the Estrella River in Paso Robles. Barreled in French and American oak for seven months to round out the tannins of the wine, strong aromas of dried currant, black pepper and anise complement your palate. The wine finishes with dark fruit and dusted mocha flavors. This is a hearty wine that will be a great partner to steak or a juicy veal chop.

Code: WERM01 | We have previously offered the 2001 Westerly Estate Merlot, which went over extremely well with our customers. Now we offer the same vintage, but in a 'Reserve' style. Westerly set aside the grapes from their Happy Canyon vineyard in Santa Ynez to make this bold and provocative wine. Using vine clones from the famous Three Palms Vineyard in Napa Valley, Seth Kunin, winemaker at Westerly, produced the winery's only reserve wine to date - a Merlot with greater extraction and fruit intensity that compliments abundant aromas of black cherries, dried herbs, spicy oak and dusty earth, which reminds one of a great Pomerol.
